Wake up, Shweez!
I’m sorry, Shweez. I’ve been busy and didn’t have time for you, Shweez. Many things happened after the last update.
My computer died (I had some draft entries prepared and photos in this computer, so I was very disappointed I couldn’t post them).
Workload was crazy at the old company and when things started to ease, more mess came up. Plus I was changing my job, so there was a little stress and uncertainty there.
Did some stuff for the Launch and Live Concert for this Community Orchestra and Choir that I joined (Can you spot me in The Star, Metro 6 April 2009?).
Started with the new job and still couldn’t find time for you, Shweez.
Finally, it’s the school holidays. No kindergarten classes and no music classes for this week. So, I’m setting some time aside to post something.
You know, Shweez, after the last post, I kept saying to myself this: okay, post an entry before the month end, post an entry before April, post an entry before it comes to 6 months after the last post, post before July, post before August, and finally, post before my birthday!!
Phew! Glad to get it off my chest. Haha! I guess, I need to restart the momentum and relearn what is there to learn about taking care of your, Shweez.
The other day, Sista and I were going through her collection of arts and crafts material. As we were taking things out from her treasure chest of cool stuff, we found this “Pom-pom maker” and a ready made yellow pom-pom. We were like, oh yea, this is going to be our next project for Shweez.com.
Tools and materials
- Strings of yarns–2 sets of 10 one-meter strings (math: 2 x 10 x 1-meter strings = 20 strings).
- Pom-pom maker
- Scissors
20th September 2008 is a date I’ll never forget–20082009. It is the day my husband and I registered our marriage. In the evening, we hosted a little party to celebrate this day with our families and relatives. I thought, other than photographs, I would like to give our guests something to bring home to remember this special day. So I quickly recruited Sista and Submerryn for this very first project of making party favors for my party and put it up on Shweez.com!
The party favors that we prepared were fridge magnets.
What do you need to make the fridge magnets like we did?
- A piece of thick paper or manila card
- A few pieces of foam
- A few pieces of tracing paper
- Printed graphics, preferably on photo paper
- Pipe cleaners
- Magnets
- Glue
- Scissors
- Double sided tape (thick)
Who are behind Shweez.com?
Well, there is Sugar Honey. Then, there is Beany. Occasionally Submerryn joins in.
Sugar is the main person. She’s the one who wants to start this.
She approaches her Sista Beany to join forces because she knows that Sista will be quite interested in this.
Sugar also pulls Sub in, but because Sub is now a mother, she cannot join in the fun quite too often la… Nevertheless, she will not feel left out in this small world of Cyberspace.
What’s in Shweez.com?
We have some ideas to put up here:
Step-by-step How-to’s, Handicraft, Decoration ideas, etc. Do constantly check back as the list will continue to expand.
Why the name Shweez.com?
Err… well, Shweez is actually modified from the words “sugar and sweet”. =) In case you’re wondering. Hehe…
How did Shweez.com start?
Shweez.com actually was born initially with a different aim.
The NEW Shweez.com started when I thought now that I’m in a boring working life, I want to start to pursue one of the things I really would like to learn and master-making handicrafts. I thought while learning to do an artwork, why don’t I document the process? Then I wanted to prepare party favors for my ROM party, so that was the first project for Shweez.com.
My old first blog
Have you heard of pita blog, or something like that? Well, that was where my first blog started. It didn’t last long-only about 5 posts, 5 posts that were filled with anger and just thoughts of disappointment and stuff.
Long time ago, well, about 10 years ago, my pen-pal, who later became my internet friend and now friend, asked me to start a blog. I asked, “What’s a blog?” He said, “Oh, it’s like an online journal. Start one! I have one… I write my thoughts there. You should too, so that I can read what you’re thinking about.”
So, I started a blog.
So I started a blog. This friend of mine recommended me to start my blog at pizzablog or something (I will confirm with him when I meet him online). I dunno exactly what my first post was about but I’m pretty sure it was something I wrote with unhappy thoughts. You know, puppy love/relationship problems… NOT proud of it, therefore I stopped writing because I thought why should I put all that down, even in cyberspace? I should ERASE those thoughts from my memory!
Now, I’m starting anew!
Here I am again, starting a new blog, encouraged by another friend. This time of course, it would be a whole new different type of blog! Haha, no more puppy love/relationship problem to be sad about, now that I’ve grown up.
It’s so Shweeeez
Shweez.com was born actually quite a few months back. Its initial aim was a totally different path from what I have in mind for it now. I’m quite excited to start work on Shweez.com. Work started in September for the NEW Shweez.com, teaming up with my Sista and Submerryn. We’re working on a couple more stuff to put on Shweez.com at this moment. To know more about what to expect from Shweez.com, read this. I hope you’ll enjoy Shweez.com as much as I put my heart and soul into it.
Without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, I proudly present to you-Shweez.com.
